We have been looking to find a way to raise funds as a “Decatur Team” for LLS – there are at least 4 people who Denice has connected with in Decatur who have a form of Leukemia or Lymphoma. I am sure that there are more. We would like to connect with them, support them, and get them on board. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. The LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services to those who are affected by these blood cancers. Denice was greatly affected by her walk and fired up to help support LLS in finding cures and funding support.
We also want a fun, family friendly fundraiser that parents and children can enjoy, one that the whole community can get behind. We believe that a “tinsel stroll” for Decatur would be a wonderful way to bring Light to LLS (Lymphoma and Leukemia Society), generate interest in our community, and bring people to Decatur. We have created a board consisting of pertinent city participants to make this a successful event. We have named the event the “Enchanted Forest of Decatur” and have secured Founders Park and the Daikin Amphitheater as the venue.
The “Enchanted Forest” will consist of live cut trees “sponsored” and decorated by individuals, groups, or businesses for a $125 donation for LLS. The trees will be ready to decorate Nov. 24- the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. They will be available to view–free to the public - from Dec 5th to Jan 1st.
We are working on the event early to ensure that we are able to properly advertise the event to maximize exposure for the event and our sponsors.
Visit the Enchanted Forest either before or after the Decatur Christmas Parade on Dec. 7, 2020
Sponsor the Enchanted Forest of Decatur, sponsor a tree for the event, or make a donation to LLS through the Decatur LLS team "4D"!
